Interval Analysis Method of Fatigue and Fracture Reliability for Offshore Structures Based on Probabilistic and Non-Probabilistic Hybrid Model

چکیده
The concept of non-probabilistic reliability, which is to measure the reliability in terms of the amount of uncertainty consistent with the condition of no failure, is used to establish a new model for fatigue reliability analysis. Some of the uncertain parameters of structures are expressed as interval variables instead of random variables. In numerical example, fatigue lifetime of the tenders of tension leg platform is assessed using hybrid models of probabilistic and nonprobabilistic based on S-N approach and fracture mechanics approach. The new model overcomes the shortcoming of traditional probabilistic methods, which need large number of statistical data and huge computational efforts and it is effective and useful in formulating control laws in the absence of detailed probabilistic information for fatigue and fracture reliability analysis.

For structural reliability assessment or risk analysis of aging offshore steel structures, it is essential to have a probabilistic model, which contains specific statistical parameters, and predicts long term corrosion loss as a function of time. The aim of this study is to propose such model for offshore jacket platforms in the Persian Gulf. Field measurements for material loss due to uniform ...

Reliability of a system is the probability that it will function as intended for the required period of time. The opposite of reliability is failure probability per unit time or over time, such as a life cycle. Following a review of existing reliability codes and approaches, comprehensive approaches to assess the reliability of offshore structures are described, including probabilistic analysis...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Effect of Local Buckling and VIV Fatigue on Failure Probability of Subsea Pipelines in Iranian South Pars Gas Field
Free-span occurs normally in a pipeline at uneven seabed, dynamic seabed and pipeline crossing. Free spanning in pipeline causes Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) fatigue, fracture and bursting. In this paper, a pipeline located in South Pars Gas Field is assessed against local buckling and VIV fatigue using probability of failure theory based on the recommended methodology by Det Norske Veritas (...
متن کاملProbing the Probabilistic Effects of Imperfections on the Load Carrying Capacity of Flat Double-Layer Space Structures
Load carrying capacity of flat double-layer space structures majorly depends on the structures' imperfections. Imperfections in initial curvature, length, and residual stress of members are all innately random and can affect the load-bearing capacity of the members and consequently that of the structure. The double-layer space trusses are susceptible to progressive collapse due to sudden buckli...

-A hybrid model of a probabilistic and non-probabilistic reliability theory is developed to predict the structural reliability when the probabilistic characteristics parameters of structural properties are imprecisely known. In this study, these parameters are described by appropriate ellipsoid. Interval of the structural reliability will be sought, i.e. estimating the worst possible reliabilit...
